Gesha Village

The origin of the Gesha variety.
We are pleased to introduce the rare Gori Gesha variety from Gesha Village, one of Ethiopia's most famous coffee farms, adjacent to the Gori Gesha forest, which is considered the birthplace of the Gesha variety.

It offers a rich fruitiness reminiscent of grapes, American cherries, and wild strawberries, characteristic of Ethiopian natural coffees, with a long-lasting freshness like lemon balm.
As it cools, you can also enjoy a smooth, floral aroma like Japanese black tea.

The Gori Gesha variety is an indigenous coffee cultivated by Gesha Village from specimens collected from the Gori Gesha forest, located about 20 km from the farm.
However, not many farmers continue to sustainably produce the Gori Gesha variety.

The reasons for this are its significantly lower yield compared to traditional varieties, and because it is a wild species, the cherries display a diverse range of colors—not just crimson and burgundy, but also pink and reddish-brown, varying from tree to tree.
Therefore, during harvest, pickers require high precision.

This cup is highly recommended not only for those who love Ethiopian coffee but also for those who want to enjoy a natural process that balances sweetness and a clean cup.
Please enjoy this masterpiece that Ethiopia is proud of.

Producer & Farm Story

Adam, the American owner of the farm, and his Ethiopian wife, Rachel, were deeply captivated by the lives and culture of the people in the region, and their way of life intertwined with coffee, after being commissioned by the Ethiopian government in 2007 to produce a coffee documentary.

Eventually, the couple decided to get involved in coffee production themselves and began searching for farmland near the capital, Addis Ababa. However, they struggled to find their ideal land, and after expanding their search, they visited the "Gori Gesha forest," a pristine forest about 20 km away.

There, they arrived at Gesha Village, the original habitat of the jasmine-scented Gesha variety, and decided to establish a farm from scratch in this location.

Working with the local community, they built the farm, and by its second year of production in 2017, they harvested over 1,200 bags. Today, it has grown into a farm highly acclaimed in coffee competitions worldwide.
